Yana Skorobogatov is currently a PhD candidate in History at the University of California, Berkeley. In July 2018, she will join the Williams College Department of History as Assistant Professor of Russian and Soviet History. Her current book manuscript is a history of the death penalty in the postwar Soviet Union. She spends her free time freelance writing, open water swimming, and brainstorming an article-length think piece about her life as a first-generation Russian-American. She was born in Moscow, USSR and currently lives in Somerville, MA.
